Rooms were clean and spacious, bed comfy. Food in the restaurant in the evening was lovely and the breakfast was excellent. The staff were amazing, so friendly and nothing was a problem. The location is beyond 5 stars. Central location on the island with amazing views and fabulous walks on the doorstep. A perfect stay
Very basic and overpriced for what it is. No soundproofing means you're kept up or woken up every time someone walks by or talks (and a lot of that happened). Our dinner was very expensive and average. Staff was a mixed bag - some very nice and friendly, and others completely opposite and uninterested in your experience. (And a couple were having a drink while we were still there.) We only stayed because we couldn't get anything else. There is nothing around to eat and drink without driving, as even the brewery was closed for winter in Jan, so you're really stuck there. They are not set up to run the way they should for what they charge.
We stayed here for one night in October 2023. The room was beautiful and the bed comfortable. The pub was warm and inviting. The restaurant's food was delicious and the view was spectacular. We ate while looking at the mountains. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Excellent hospitality all the way around!! Thank you Sligachan Hotel for making our vacation memorable. (And yes, we did put our face in the river for eternal beauty!)
Sligachan saved us on News Years day evening. Staff was lovely, and the venison rigatoni was extremely tasty. Didn't really see much of the location due to it being dark when we went, but it was easy to navigate to.
Used to be a really good walker/climber place. Now it's a wedding venue and that's really all that counts, staff are rude and unwelcoming, unless you're paying for a room or overly priced food in the restaurant not to mention the bar tab you get landed with, you're a second class citizen. Needs a reality check I'm afraid.
Christophe was a ray of sunshine, he made our stay bright and fun, his friendly customer service stood out. Location is stunning - an iconic location. Room clean and quiet. The food is fine. We really appreciated the stay after a windy soggy intrepid exped including wild camping.
The location of the hotel is beautiful. You are surrounded by a river and mountains. We were very excited to stay here but honestly were a bit disappointed with the hotel itself. The photos online are a bit misleading as the hotel and rooms seem run down compared to what is shown online. The hotel has been renovated but it just didn’t feel overly clean. Upon coming into our room, it seemed as if our room hadn’t been fully cleaned. The toilet had obvious stains in it and the floors didn’t seem vacuumed. We ate in the restaurant for dinner and our server was great. However the food wasn’t anything special and the water they serve you is yellow. Even though we were told it was okay to drink, we opted not to. The breakfast in the morning is good. Despite our disappointment a bit with the hotel, the location is what makes it worth visiting but just be prepared to pay a bit to stay here!
Stayed in two different rooms over 3 days. Rooms vary in size but are nicely furnished & good decor. Clean & comfortable. Breakfast was cooked to order & very hearty. Good location next to main road for portree & main road to Dunvegan. Staff were friendly, helpful & very efficient. Cost is comparable to other hotels on Skye, generally hotel rooms cost more than the mainland. Couldn't fault anything!! We would happily stay here again. Be prepared for very wet weather!! But when the sun shines the views are glorious & impressive!!!
